Posting’s going to be sporadic here while I work on a lot of comics. No matter what occurs, I will find you etc.
Here are some roughs I printed out for Disappearing Town #1 or pt.1 or Chapter One. I’m drawing this one analog so I can leave the apartment when it suits me. In part, I write it like Arzach, in that I don’t think much farther than a couple pages ahead. That’s not entirely true, but I typed it so…it’s not like I can go back now. This is literally made of stone. I have the first arc mapped out like a very basic drum track. I will deviate. I have!
So, I watched this movie recently called ‘Sorcerer, and it shifted the way I had been thinking about approaching some of the big set pieces in this first issue (which should sit at 32 pgs if released through a publisher). There are really long scenes in the film that are almost entirely void of dialogue. We’re just watching people perform tasks, and we figure out what they’re doing when they do it. Sounds obvious yeah? There’s going to be a lot if that in the first issue of DT. It’s a future world, and I feel like we’ve seen enough sc-fi worlds that a short hand exists. We all know it. Frankly I’m not interested in you knowing why buildings or cars or society is the way it is in this future. What I am interested in is who these people are, and how they bounce off one another. We’ll see….
